HIFU Face & Neck Lift (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) — otherwise known as Ultherapy — is a non-invasive & non-surgical cosmetic skin tightening treatment that uses ultrasound to lift and tighten collagen and elasticity of the skin.

What is HIFU?

HIFU — High Intensity Focused Ultrasound — is one of the most exciting breakthroughs in non-surgical aesthetics of the last decade. If you have been looking for a way to lift, tighten, and rejuvenate your skin without going under the knife, HIFU could be exactly what you have been waiting for. It is the only non-invasive treatment clinically proven to replicate the results of a surgical facelift — lifting the brow, tightening the jaw, smoothing the neck — all without a single incision.

The treatment works by delivering focused ultrasound energy deep into the foundational layers of the skin — the same layers a surgeon would address during a facelift. This stimulates your body’s own natural collagen production process, gradually rebuilding the structural scaffolding beneath your skin from the inside out. The results are beautifully natural, because they come from your own body.

At Skin Rejuvenation Clinic, we use medical-grade HIFU technology to deliver precise, controlled energy at three depths simultaneously — 1.5mm, 3mm and 4.5mm — targeting the dermis and the SMAS layer (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System), which is the same layer tightened in surgical facelifts. This multi-depth approach is what makes HIFU uniquely effective compared to other non-surgical treatments.

How Does HIFU Work?

Think of how a magnifying glass can focus sunlight to a single intense point. HIFU works on exactly the same principle — focusing ultrasound waves to a precise point beneath the surface of the skin, generating a tiny zone of thermal energy at exactly the right depth. This heat triggers an immediate tightening of the tissue (through a process called protein denaturation) and simultaneously kick-starts a process called neocollagenesis — the creation of brand new collagen fibres.

Unlike laser or IPL treatments that work on the surface of the skin, HIFU bypasses the outer layers entirely and works deep within the tissue. This means there is no damage to the skin surface, no downtime, and the treatment is suitable for all skin tones. The collagen remodelling process continues for months after your session, meaning your results keep improving long after you leave the clinic.

During your treatment, your practitioner will apply a smooth handheld device to your skin. You will feel brief pulses of warmth — some people describe a tingling or prickling sensation, particularly over bony areas — but the treatment is well-tolerated and most clients are comfortable throughout. A full face and neck treatment typically takes 60 to 90 minutes.

What Results Can I Expect?

Many clients notice an immediate subtle tightening after their first session — a fresh, slightly more defined appearance that friends and colleagues will notice without necessarily knowing why. But the most dramatic results develop over the following three to six months as collagen remodelling takes place deep in the skin. Most clients describe looking consistently younger — not dramatically different, but genuinely refreshed and lifted.

Results from a single HIFU treatment typically last between 12 and 18 months, and many clients choose to return for a maintenance session once a year to stay ahead of the ageing process. Because HIFU works with your body’s own biology, the improvements are long-lasting and continue to build with subsequent treatments.

Clinical studies show measurable lifting in over 80% of patients. At SRC, we photograph every client before and after treatment so you can see your own transformation clearly documented.

Am I a Good Candidate for HIFU?

HIFU is ideal for anyone who is starting to notice the early signs of skin laxity — a softening of the jawline, a slight drooping of the brow, or loose skin developing on the neck. It works best on clients in their 30s, 40s and 50s where there is good skin quality but natural collagen loss is beginning to show. It is also an excellent option for those who are not ready for surgery, or who want to delay the need for surgical intervention.

If you have more advanced skin laxity, HIFU can still produce meaningful improvement, though a surgical consultation may also be appropriate. During your consultation at SRC, we will assess your skin honestly and recommend the right treatment pathway for your individual goals — we will never suggest a treatment that is not right for you.

Aftercare & Recovery

One of the greatest advantages of HIFU is that there is virtually no downtime. You can return to your normal daily activities immediately after treatment. You may experience some mild redness or slight swelling in the treated areas — this is completely normal and typically settles within a few hours.

To get the very best from your treatment, we recommend the following in the 24 hours after your session:

  • Avoid hot drinks, alcohol, and strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours to allow the tissue to settle
  • Stay out of direct sunlight and avoid sunbeds — apply SPF 30 or higher if you will be outdoors
  • Keep the skin well moisturised and avoid active skincare ingredients (retinols, acids) for 48 hours
  • Stay well hydrated — drinking plenty of water supports the collagen production process
